"Blueprint for Accountability" Event in Washington, D.C.

Update, April 16:The organizers of this event have informed me that it is being postponed until June, and being moved to New York City, due to scheduling conflicts for some of the participants. I'll have more news on that when it is available.

Last July, the Culture Project screened The Reckoning: The Battle for the International Criminal Court as part of its Blueprint for Accountability series. Now, the Culture Project’s second installment of its “Blueprint for Accountability” series, will be taking place at Washington, D.C.’s Newseum, 555 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, on April 22^nd at 7:30PM. While the fight against torture, state secrecy and surveillance, due process and the rule of law, and against U.S. militarism is not solely about the past administration, I believe those in attendance at this conference are well aware of this. It should be an exciting event.

Igniting an unprecedented sense of hope and possibility, the election of Barack Obama served to position American resolve and commitment as never before. Echoing the sentiments of those both home and abroad, this opportunity presented a vital call to action: a call for America to regain its footing and once again raise its standard as the great pillar for the rule of law.

The Culture Project has assembled some of the most important and influential voices of our time to help us understand the unprecedented events, policies, and circumventions of the past administration. The “Blueprint for Accountability” series fuses theater, film, debate, and discussion to call attention to these crimes, urging policy makers, elected officials, and world citizens to craft a decisive moral response, capable of restoring both America’s dignity and standing throughout the international community.
